Children and young adults are welcome to attend the Festival; however, for their safety and wellbeing, some special conditions apply.
Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by two nominated responsible adult carers over the age of 18. Those who are aged 16 and 17 years old must be accompanied by an adult over 18. You will be asked to provide the names of the carers/accompanying adults at the point of registration and will be unable to complete the registration without it.
Festivals are large-scale public events and the care and safety of children and young adults remains at all times the responsibility of their parents/nominated carers/accompanying adults. For insurance purposes, the NKT-IKBU, the Festival Organizers, and KMC NY and its managers cannot take responsibility for children and young adults.
Festival Fees for Children
To help ensure the safety of your child, and so that they can be easily reunited with their carers in case of difficulties arising, passes for children under 16 will display photographs and names of their two nominated responsible adult carers. Bookings for children under 16 can only be confirmed when photographs have been received. Because these passes are prepared in advance, you must provide these prior to your arrival. All children under 18 are required to wear wristbands.
We regret that children under age 3 are not allowed in the Temple during empowerments, teachings and meditation sessions. Any children who do attend teachings are not permitted to play electronic games. Children of all ages are welcome to attend pujas.
During empowerments, teachings and meditation sessions, we will provide a comfortable, quiet area reserved for carers with children to listen to the teachings.
Stewarding will be provided in this area. If you are a parent with young children and would like to volunteer to help with Stewarding this area, please contact [email protected]
Parents are reminded that children (of all ages) must be under adult supervision at all times.
A program of volunteer-led family activities is offered throughout the festival in the afternoons. These activities are for parents to enjoy with their children and will cater to all ages. It is important to note that this is not a childcare facility, and children remain the responsibility of and should be supervised, by their nominated carers at all times.
